Freshers Stall with the final designs. I chose to photograph my final printed designs on a freshers stall to show the method of delivery. On the stall I used purple material, similar to the colour of the logo design. I also had fairy lights, green party hats and purple balloons.

The Recovery Position -Speaking From Experience
RESERACH ON THE RECOVERY POSITION
Why use the recovery position?
It keeps the casualty in a stable position with their airway
•It prevents the casualty's tongue from blocking their airway
•It promotes drainage of fluids, such as blood or vomit, from their mouth
•It keeps the casualty in a safe position if they have to be left alone
•If the casualty was left on their back their tongue could relax and block their airway
Roll the casualty onto their side as shown. Gently tilt their head back to open their airway.
Here is one of my initial ides:
Monitor the casualty until emergency help arrives.
I drew a silhouette around a person of the recovery position, so I had a life size scale and and image to be able to stencil around...
Using the bottle caps from the check list I have sued them to fill the silhouette...
Here is one of my initial ides:
Taking the green and purple colours from off the check list badges. I prefer these colours to the red. I used the badge designs in the to fill the human figure. I also used a typeface I used on the badges.
After thinkign abotu pritnign the final design, It woudl have proved difficult printign onto such a larage surface (life size) so I have chosen to screen pritn this design onto a pillow case. The case works well with the concept as it can be used for when a person may need to adopt this position and t is also for comedy values.
Speaking From Experience
Week Four:
From Fridays crit I realised the importance of the packaging for the pack, and how it could become quite interactive. I like the idea it being a bag that could be re-used, as when people go to flat parties they usually would bring alcohol in a plastic bag. This also makes it relevant to 'parties'.
Another issue raised in the crit when talking about safety at parties was to look at the 'Recovery Position' and how it could be used in a comical way, yet also being a serious piece of information.
I am going to research into this and think of different ways in which it could mayeb use it.
I think it would be a novelty item and also funny to have a matt with a human outline of a person (like a police scene) in the recovery position, to be placed in a specific area in the party room. Assisted with some information on what to do.
For the 'check list' I had been trying to come up with different ways of making it visually engaging, and I particularly like the look of bottle caps. I think they are relevant to the party theme as 'alcohol' is consumed at them, and they are a good visual when set together in different colours. I have started to come up with my own little pictograms for each instrution on the check list and began making my own bottle caps. I think it would be useful if I had 'what to do' on the bottle cap, and then 'the reason why it should be done' on the reverse side. Here are a few drawn examples:
I re-created these in illustrator, experimenting with different colour combinations:
Chosen 12 for check list (front and back)
In my next crit, I was told to think about creating the check list as badges. This would be novelty items as the students would be able to keep them and pin them to different things as well as having the concept behind them, of a check list. I really liek this idea and I will try to create some badges. However, with the design only being able to go on one side. I will probably have to put the information for each badge, on the card that they pin onto.
I couldn't fidn anywhere that sold badge makers so I bought 12 birthday badges to take apart and put my own designs on:
Thinking of the deisgns for the poster I took panaramic photos of my flat. I tried to include typical things such as the kitchen, sofa, music system, table, chairs. I drew this out and stenciled it onto photoshop so I could manipulate it.

Bag Design Ideas:
In the crit I was told the logo I had chosen was hard to read. I also think it is boring so I will re-design this. However, I just want the words 'flat party' ont he bag deisgn to keep it simple and straigth to the point.

Speaking From Experience
Week Three:
I started to think about creating a check list for the students to be able to go through before their party starts. Here are some instrustions that could possibly be on it, that I have got from from the questionnaire. However, it will only be finalised once the rest fo the pack is designed, as it may have instruction to put items from the pack on display.

Ideas for poster and check list:
Design Boards for Crit 07/05 (clarifies the brief):
Content:
The pack will contain a 'How to' guide in the form of a check list, and a poster that they will be able to put up in their room to keep referring back to.
It will give them useful tips and information and also contain novelty items such as beer matts, door suigns and key rings.
Context:
The pack will be for freshers and will give them advice on how to throw a flat party, as a way of helping them become more social with their classmates outside the college environment.
I will create empahasis on a 'safe' party.
The pack will be fun, and light hearted.
It will be designed for the students to keep and use throughout their time at uni.
Method of Delivery:
In the form of a pack that will be available for students to pick up from a stall at the freshers fair.
I will also direct them to a website where they will be able to sign up to their class, and be able to invite eacother to the party's on there.
